Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, home to a vast art collection that includes more than 4,000 works created after 1950, representing a variety of media and genres: painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video, and installation. MCASD is known for collecting works by promising emerging artists and under-recognized, mid-career artists, as well as by major figures in international contemporary art.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, at UC San Diego, featuring a stunning variety of colorful, Pacific marine life featured in more than 60 habitats.

Torrey Pines State Reserve, one of the wildest stretches of land on the Southern California Coast, an oasis of relaxation, featuring 8 miles of trails, a visitor center, and guided nature walks on weekends and holidays. The Reserve closes at approximately sunset.

Annual Events

The La Jolla Festival of the Arts, which happens in late-June, is, perhaps, the premier annual event in La Jolla, also being considered one of the most popular celebrations in the beautiful coastal San Diego county area.

It is one of the top rated art shows in the state, as well, featuring nearly 200 award-winning local and national artists displaying watercolors, oils, sculpture, serigraphs, fine jewelry, photography, and more.

Visitors can also taste the delicious cuisines served in the area, and they can also enjoy live entertainment, and participate in special events.

The festival is produced annually by the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Foundation, to support recreational and educational programs for San Diegans with disabilities.
