Getting around in Memphis, TN

If you want to do anything other than to see Memphis' downtown area, then, driving is really the only way to get around in the city, because most public transportation only covers the downtown area (with some exceptions).

 

The city's public transit is operated by MATA (Memphis Area Transit Authority), which offers bus service, and, in additon to the bus service, there is also a trolley which operates downtown and into Midtown, mostly for the benefit of tourists.

 

The main highways, serving Memphis, include: Interstate Highways 40, 55, 240 and 22, and US Routes 70, 64, 72, 51 and 61.

 

How to get to Rhodes College campus?

Easy! Just follow the driving directions listed below!

 

From Memphis International Airport:

 

- As you exit the airport, take the I-240W ramp onto Plough Blvd. After about 2 miles, this road becomes Airways Blvd.

- Continue on Airways; after another 3 miles, Airways becomes East Parkway.

- Follow East Parkway for 2.5 miles, until it intersects with North Parkway/Summer Avenue (the street is North Parkway on the left and Summer Avenue on the right.)

- Turn left onto North Parkway and travel 6 miles, passing the Rhodes campus on the right.

- Turn right at the next light, University Street. Enter campus at the first gate, Phillips Lane, or the third gate, Bailey Lane.
