Getting around in Atlanta, GA

Atlanta is served by Amtrak, with the Crescent train running daily, the Amtrak Station being located at 1688 Peachtree St. N.W., only a few miles north of the airport and downtown, and by the Greyhound Bus Lines, with service from many locations throughout the United States, with the buses arriving and departing from the Greyhound terminal at 232 Forsyth Street, located on the southern edge of the downtown area, directly beneath MARTA's Garnett Station.

The city is linked to the rest of the US by the Interstate Highway System, the principal interstates being I-75, I-85 and I-20, all of which cross through Downtown. There is also I-285, which circles the city at a distance of about 10 miles out, crossing and connecting with all the reminded intestates, including the airport.

The public transportation service within Atlanta is offered by MARTA, which operates both rapid rail and bus networks in the city and the counties of Fulton and Dekalb. A single ride on MARTA costs $2.00. The fare includes transfers.

From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport: Head west on S Terminal Parkway and make a slight right toward Airport Boulevard/Terminal Return. Continue straight onto Airport Boulevard/Terminal Return and take the ramp to I-85 N. Keep left at the fork to continue toward I-85 N, follow the signs for I-75 N/I-20/I-85 N/Atlanta and merge onto I-85 N. Merge onto I-75 N and take exit 248C to merge onto Freedom Pkwy toward GA-10 E/Carter Center. Turn right at Ponce De Leon Ave NE and left at Briarcliff Rd NE. Turn right at N Decatur Rd, and, at the roundabout, continue straight, to stay on N Decatur Rd. Turn left at Clairmont Rd and again at Starvine Way. Emory University will be on the left.
