Take your kids to Rio Grande Zoological Park, on 10th Street, Southwest Albuquerque, featuring rare and exotic animals, including common species, in their natural habitat, such as white tigers, polar bears and apes, including seals and sea lions.

Sports & outdoor events

The Annual New Mexico Marathon is the premier marathon in New Mexico State and it is held in August, in hope to raise money which benefits the Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA).

 

The 26-mile race starts near the beautiful Sandia Mountains, continuing through the nature trail in Albuquerque's North Valley, finishing near the historical Old Town Plaza.

 

After the race, the Event Finish Festival takes place, which is a fun celebration, filled with live music, Spanish dancers, mariachis, entertaining activities for children and award ceremonies.

 

 

Festivals

The Annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, celebrated in October, represents the largest hot air balloon festival in the world, consisting of 10 colorful days, with amazing balloon-filled skies, attracting thousands of curious people and hot air balloonists from all over the world.

 

This beautiful visual feast is considered to be the world's most photographed event, offering visitors breathtaking views and a memory that will last for a life time, bringing them back to Albuquerque, year after year.
