There are numerous sporting events happening all over Connecticut, throughout the year, such as the Annual Marathon and 5k, taking place in Jennings Beach, in Fairfield, in which thousands of runners compete, benefiting the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation and The Arthur C. Luf Children's Burn Camp and the Annual ING Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay & 5K, which happens in October, in Hartford, featuring a 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon, a 5k race, a team relay and a fun `Kids K` race, and which gives runners the chance to see the beautiful green surroundings of northwestern Connecticut.

 

Festivals

One of the most loved and expected annual festivals in Storrs, CT, is the Annual Connecticut Children's Book Fare, kept in November, which was designed to grow the children's interest in reading and literature, and which invites parents, children, book collectors, and anyone who is interested to participate in this fun, educational free annual event in Storrs.

 

The Fair is a project of the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center and the UConn Co-op, and offers all the proceeds from the sales to the growing of the Northeast Children's Literature Collection in the Archives & Special Collections at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center, from the University of Connecticut Libraries.

 

Nightlife

There aren't any `hot` night spots in Storrs, CT, but there are a few places where you can have a drink with friends or just sit back and relax such as the Stonewall Tavern, on Stafford Road, or the Thirsty Dog Pub & Grille, on N Eagleville Road.

 

The favorite spot of the UConn students seems to be the Huskies Restaurant and Bar, practically located on campus, which provides a friendly sports atmosphere, being the 1st choice of the youngsters when it comes to grab a quick bite to eat before the game, transforming in the only dance club for students, at night.
