Spend a fun summer day out with the family at the Ross Park Aquatic Complex, which can be found on South 2nd Avenue.

 

Check out the schedule from the state-of-the-art L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center, located on S 8th Avenue, and enjoy a wonderful show.

 

Visit the Bannock County Historical Museum, situated on Avenue of the Chiefs, where you can get interesting information regarding the city's early railroad history and admire a vast collection of eye-catching Shoshone - Bannock Indian artifacts.

 

Show your kids a good time, while staying in Pocatello, by taking them to Pocatello Zoo, also located on Avenue of the Chiefs, where they can view a wide variety of native species of bird and animals, from the Rocky Mountains, showcased in a unique, natural setting.

 

Sports & outdoor events

The Pocatello Marathon, which happens in September, is perhaps the premier annual sporting event in Pocatello, ID.

 

On September 4, in 2010, the event will be celebrating its 11th edition, and as always, there are lots of entertaining activities organized for visitors, including a 1.5 - mile MaraRun, which will start at the north end of Lower Ross Park, a 0.2-mile kids run, which will also start at the north end of Lower Ross Park, a marathon, a half marathon, a 10k and a 5k run, offering something for athletes of all ages and abilities, including for those who are less athletic but still enthusiastically willing to participate.

Pocatello's nightlife scene is not exactly "explosive" or as appealing as in the other much larger cities, but there are things and places to go to, in order to spend a fun night out with friends and enjoy yourselves. People say that the secret to find the best nightspots in Pocatello is to ask the Idaho State University students where they hang out. - Benton Street Bar & Grill - 415 S 2nd Avenue - great dancing spot, featuring good music, pool tables and convenient drink prices.

- First National Bar - 232 W Center Street - if you love music then this is the place for you to be in, after the night sets in Pocatello. They have karaoke nights, DJ nights and live music performances every Saturday nights, offering something for everybody.

- The Green Triangle Bar and Grill - 4010 Yellowstone Avenue - the great thing about this place is that on regular week days you can use it at a meeting spot where you and your friends can enjoy a delicious meal and have a drink or two, and on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this great place transforms into a high-energy club, where you can dance and have a good time until late into the night.
