The Illinois Valley Striders Half Marathon, which happens in September, is perhaps among the most popular annual celebrations, held throughout the US state of Illinois.

 

The event is held in Peoria, IL, which is located at a distance of 69 miles from the city center of Macomb, IL, and offers runners a scenic and challenging course through the city streets and parks.

 

In 2009, the race started in one of Peoria's city parks, and continued through the grounds of Peoria's Springdale Cemetery.

 

Some of the participants described the course as "brutal", due to the tombstones and memorials that lie on the cemetery's grounds, which made the run quite interesting and very challenging.

 

Festivals

Perhaps the premier annual celebration in Macomb, IL is the Annual Macomb Heritage Days, which will be held on June 24 through June 26, in 2010.

 

The location of this fun and entertaining event is the historic downtown district of Macomb City, in Chandler Park, which is located at the intersection of Highway 67 and 136.
