ATTRACTIONS

Visit U of I Prichard Art Gallery, on S Main, where you can see various art-related exhibitions and shows, including architecture artworks, as well as showings of landscape architecture.

 

See interesting exhibits at the Appaloosa Museum, situated on W Pullman Road, which is a non-profit organization, established in 1975, dedicated to preserving, collect, study and offer people exhibitions and information about the history of the Appaloosa horse.

 

Outdoor enthusiasts can try the Salmon River Experience, great for canoe adventures, also featuring historical and geological sites, as well as camping opportunities.

 

See the beautiful McConnell Mansion, now serving as a museum, located on South Adams, the former home of William J. McConnell, a significant personality in Moscow's industrial history, being known around 1878, when he moved to Moscow, as the `Merchant Prince of Idaho`.

Festivals

Moscow is nicknamed the `Heart of the Arts`, due to the fact that it hosts the largest educational jazz festival in the world, every year, which is the Annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, happening in February, featuring live music, lots of fun, and an entertaining summer theatre, among many other fun attractions and activities for art and music lovers.

 

On the list of annual festivals and fairs in Moscow, there is also the Annual Renaissance Fair, which is celebrated in April, the Annual Fresh Aire Concerts, held from June through August, as well as the Latah County Fair, kept in mid-September, featuring free shows, lots of entertaining activities for all family members, including plenty of food and interesting exhibitions.

 

Nightlife

Moscow, ID is a college town, and where there's students, there is always something to do after the sun goes down. Among the best places to be in Moscow, when the night sets in, party-lovers have placed C J'S-Cadillac Jack's, which can be found on N Main Street and John's Alley Tavern, located on E 6th Street, Dick's Horseshoe Pub and The Beach, on Main Street, and the Mix Bar, situated on Blaine Street.

 

College students and local youngsters seem to favor The Beach, described by them as a great place to hang out with friends, dance, have a drink or meet other people.

 

Thursday nights are country music nights here, featuring plenty of tight jeans and lots of dancing, and if you're into R &B, Hip Hop, Jazz, rock, or even a fan of the 70's music, be sure to stop by on a Friday or a Saturday night.
