>> Pioneer Park - previously named `Alaskaland`, this theme park is the main choice for a day out with the family, enjoying both the cultural attractions that the area includes, but also the outdoor entertainment activities that the park ensures. If you choose to visit Pioneer Park, then your tour should start with a train ride on the Crooked Creek and Whiskey Island Railroad. Then, you can visit the Native Village Museum and the Sternwheeler Nenana or enjoy the 29 pioneer cabins and buildings of the gold rush town, with a stop at the original 1904 Presbyterian Church, James Judge Wickersham's house, the Palace Saloon and Theatre, ending with a variety of stores and eateries like Kaethe's Gold Cabin and Grizzly's Tent Camp Food.

 

>> Ladd Field - currently known as Fort Wainwright and used as an Army installation, comprising family housing, medical center and modern barracks, the Ladd Field was the state's first US Army Airfield with the purpose of cold weather experimental station, air depot for repair and testing of aircraft and the principle base in Alaska for the Air Transport Command during the World War II.
