The Annual Freihofer's Run for Women is an exciting sporting event, which takes place in Albany, every June, dedicated to fostering the recognition of women in sports, inspiring them to experience good nutrition and the benefits of exercising. Every year, thousands of women of all ages and abilities compete along with the greatest long distance champions of the world, in this thrilling, popular celebration of women which is growing in popularity year after year.

 

 

Festivals

One of the most popular festivals in Albany is considered to be the Annual Tulip Festival, which takes place in the historical Washington Park, in May, described as a celebration of the oldest Dutch settlement in USA through entertaining events, including concerts, a Tulip Queen coronation ceremony, and displays of gorgeous, multi-colored beds of beautiful flowers, more exactly, 140 varieties of tulips. The festival has been an annual Mother's Day tradition for over 60 years, dating since 1948, the proclamation year of Albany Mayor Erastus Corning.
