Sports & outdoor events

The Baltimore Marathon that happens in Baltimore, as the name of the event suggests, which is only 20 minutes, by car, from Towson, is perhaps one of the most popular and favorite annual sporting events in Maryland. In October 2008, the marathon has drawn a record number of 17 922 participants, continuously doing so, every time it takes place, fact which makes it the fastest growing marathon in USA.

The 2010 edition of this popular event will be on October 16, and as always, will contain a marathon, a half-marathon, a team relay, a 5k run and a Kids Fun Run, in order to give the chance of participating to all enthusiastic runners of all ages and skills. This year's marathon will benefit CASA (Court Appointed Advocates for children), in hope to raise public awareness and needed funds for the abused and neglected children in Maryland.

Festivals

The premier annual celebration in Towson is considered to be the Annual Towsontown Spring Festival, which, on May 1st and 2nd, in 2010, has celebrated its 43rd edition.

This fabulous, fun, family-friendly event has it all: live music, beer, wine, dance performances, carnival games, NASCAR racecar displays, pony rides, a petting zoo and much, much more, offering something for the enjoyment of all family members.

If you missed this year's festival, be sure to plan your trip to Towson in May, in order not to miss the next edition of the Towsontown Spring Festival, considered a `must`, while visiting Towson!
