Spend a fun day out with the family at Moraga Commons Park, on Donald Drive, great for skating or picnicking.

 

Take a 20-minute drive to Oakland and see the Chabot Space & Science Center, on Skyline Boulevard, featuring exciting hands-on exhibits and activities, lectures, workshops, as well as various events for people of all ages.

 

Visit the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site, located at a distance of 15 minutes from Moraga, and see the former home of Eugene Gladstone O'Neill, the architect of modern American theatre and the only Nobel Prize winning playwright from USA.

The Annual Oakland Running Festival Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay and 5k, taking in place March, in Oakland, as the name of the event suggests, which is located at a distance of 20 minutes from Moraga, by car, is perhaps one of the most popular annual sporting events in California.

 

This fun an entertaining event features a full 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon, a 4-person marathon relay and a 5K races, taking participants through the most beautiful and scenic areas in the city, through a combination of downtown areas and residential neighborhoods, including through Lake Merritt Channel Park. The marathon is growing in both size and popularity, attracting a larger number of runners and spectators, every time it takes place.

 

Festivals

The Annual Summer Jazz Banjo Festival, which will be celebrating its 2nd edition in 2010, happening at Saint Mary's College of California, is modestly making its way among the most popular annual celebrations in Moraga.

 

This annual Moraga event, dedicated to the entire family, features a full afternoon of quality 4-string banjo music, played by the best artists in Bay Area, such as San Francisco Banjo Band, Wineland Banjo Band, East Bay Banjo Club and several others. It may not be one of the biggest events in California, but it is very much appreciated and expected by the Moraga locals.

 

Nightlife

The nightlife scene of Moraga is not very appealing as some people say, and besides the few bars where you can have a drink or two with friends, there aren't many things to do in the city, after the night sets.

 

If you get in the mood to party, while staying in Moraga, the only thing you can do is to get behind the wheel and drive to the nearby cities such as Oakland, San Francisco or Pleasant Hill, where you will find plenty of choices that will provide all the nightly excitement you need.
