ATTRACTIONS

See the amazing Japanese Friendship Garden, on Senter Road, in Kelley Park, which is modeled after Korakuen Park in Okayama, Japan, a peaceful oasis right in the middle of the city, featuring a unique setting, with bridges, ponds and pathways, representing a fine example of classic Japanese landscape gardening.

 

Visit the Winchester Mystery House, situated on South Winchester Boulevard, one of the oddest houses ever built, constructed by Sarah Winchester, who was convinced that she was haunted. She continued to work at the house until the day she passed away, and this Victorian-style labyrinth resulted, features doors that open onto thin air, others open into the wall, including stairs and corridors that lead to dead ends.

 

Show your kids a good time by taking them to the Children's Discovery Museum, on Woz Way, which offers 2 floors of interesting and intriguing exhibits that will certainly keep the little ones interested during the entire walk through the museum.

 

Sports & outdoor events

The Annual Quicksilver Challenge Half Marathon & 10k, which happens in September, is perhaps one of the most popular annual sporting events in San Jose. This fun and entertaining event offers a trail course which takes runners through the scenic and hilly roads of Almaden County Quicksilver Park, located just south of San Jose, challenging beginners and professional marathon runners, alike, through the 13.1-mile course, filled with wooden trails, peaceful oak forests and open meadows.

San Jose Jazz Festival - April - featuring dozens of jazz performances, on 10 stages, placed throughout downtown San Jose.

Italian Family Fiesta - October - a fun-filled celebration, with live music and lots of delicious treats.

San Jose Cinco de Mayo Parade & Festival - May - the highlight of this event is the colorful and noisy parade, taking place downtown San Jose, held in order to honor the Mexican-American culture.

San Jose Obon Festival - July - Japantown's largest cultural event, a celebration filed with tasty traditional cooking, cultural demonstrations and exhibits, also offering plenty of music and dancing.

 

Nightlife

Offering everything from bars and pubs, dance clubs and ultra lounges, as well as great dive bars and fun karaoke clubs, the nightlife scene of San Jose is as varied as it can get, offering you all the nightly excitement that you can think of.

 

The downtown bars, such as the Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge, on E. San Fernando Street, Britannia Arms, on W. Santa Clara Street or Sabor, on N.
