The intercity service is provided by TTA (Triangle Transit Authority), which connects Raleigh with Chapel Hill, and Durham, also serving Morrisville, RDU Airport, Cary and Research Triangle Park. Train

 

Raleigh is linked to 56 other cities, by Amtrak, with the Silver Star, providing daily service to several cities, including New York, Washington and Miami, as well as many communities in between, additional north/south service on the Silver Palm and the Silver Meteor, being available through Rocky Mount, one hour from Raleigh, by car. Morning and afternoon service, between Raleigh, Greensboro, Rocky Mount, and Charlotte is offered by the Carolinian and the Piedmont.

I-40 – runs through the southern part of the city; connects the city with Chapel Hill and Durham (west), as well as with Wilmington, NC (southeast).

US Route 1 – enters Raleigh from the north; intersects with I-440 around the west side of Raleigh.

US Route 64 – it is the main east-west route through the city.

US Route 70 – travels roughly northwest-southeast through Raleigh, following Glenwood Avenue into Durham north of downtown and South Saunders and South Wilmington Streets into Garner, south of the city.

Make a slight right to merge onto US-70 E/Glenwood Avenue, toward Raleigh, and take the ramp onto I-440 S. Exit onto Western Blvd., toward NC State Univ/Downtown and turn right at Varsity Drive. Turn right at Capability Drive, and make a right turn again, in order to stay on Capability Drive, which turns left and becomes Campus Shore Drive. NCSU will be on the left.
