Getting around in Brooklyn, NY

The main and most popular getting around option in Brooklyn is the subway. The borough is served by 18 subway lines, most of which serve as direct connections to Manhattan or Queens.

Brooklyn is also covered by an extensive network of MTA buses, of particular interest for visitors being, perhaps, the B51 bus, which runs between City Hall in Manhattan and Smith St./Fulton St. in Downtown Brooklyn, via the Manhattan Bridge.

There are also express bus lines which serve Southern Brooklyn, an area which is, for the most part, subway deprived, especially to the east. The express bus lines include the X27 and X28, which run daily from around 6.00AM to 11.30PM, and X29, which runs rush hours only, to Manhattan in the morning and to Brooklyn in the afternoon.

There are, as well, plenty of taxi services available, and one can also drive, walk or ride the bike to get around in Brooklyn, depending on distance of preference.
