>> Climb on top of the Empire State Building, also located in New York City, where the Observatory is, from where you can see amazing views of the city (especially at night).

 

>> Visit the Pop Corn Park Zoo, on Humane Way Forked River (West Long Branch), also featuring a rescue center, where you can see (and even get) amazingly cute rescued animals, such as cats, dogs or birds, or explore the zoo, and see more exotic animals, such as lions or tigers.

 

>> Have fun with the family at Keansburg Amusement Park, located in Keansburg, which is only 30 minutes from West Long Branch, by car, where you can enjoy all kinds of fun and entertaining rides and attractions, such as the Safari Adventure, the Super Slide, the Swing Ride, The Balloon Ferris Wheel, and many more other attractions for all family members.

 

Sports & outdoor events

The New Jersey Marathon, which will be held on May 2nd, in 2010, is perhaps the most popular annual sporting event in Long Branch, as well as one of the most favorite in New Jersey.

 

The 26-mile marathon is part of the Annual New Jersey Marathon Festival, which starts on April 29, and consists of a fun run through the diverse neighborhoods in Long Branch and Monmouth Beach, offering runners great scenery and an oceanfront start and finish.

 

Besides the personal accomplishment of finishing the marathon or the half marathon, participants also run in order to help organizers raise money for various causes and charities.

 

This year, the New Jersey Marathon Festival has partnered with Bosco's Buddies, of which goal is to raise awareness of Hepatitis C and Liver Diseases. All proceeds will go towards other organizations, which are helping by trying to create a cure for the devastating liver diseases, challenging athletes to raise funds by participating at the marathon.

Nightlife

Having only around 8000 inhabitants, West Long Branch borough does not have a thriving nightlife scene. There are several places where you and your friends can have a good time and start a long conversation, while relaxing and having a drink or a snack, but there aren't any `hot` nightspots in West Long Branch, according to previous club-going visitors.

 

If you get in the mood to party, while staying in West Long Branch, head to Long Branch, which is only 4 minutes, by car, from West Long Branch, where you will find a lively nightlife scene for the `young and hip` or the `young at heart`. Located just south of New York City, Long Branch is a pub for many party-loving locals and Manhattan people, who are fond of `wild` night out experiences.

 

If live music is your thing, then The Brighton Bar is the place for you to be in, after the night sets. Attracting a young and vibrant crowd, this is the place in Long Branch where you will hear everything from rock to jazz, including poetry and sometimes see entertaining shows.

 

The Celtic Cottage Pub has a traditional Irish atmosphere, and it's a great spot for having a drink (or two) with friends, including cocktails for the ladies and a wide range of beer varieties, for men. Other popular nightspots in Long Branch are considered to be the Mix, which is located on Brighton Avenue and Avenue Nuit, which is a rooftop bar right at the ocean, offering beautiful views of the beach and Pier Village, also featuring lounges outside and a spacious dance floor inside.
