- Isle Royale National Park, featuring numerous hiking trails, inland waterways and shipwrecks, one of the park's most popular highlights being Ranger III, the largest ship owned and operated by the National Park Service and the largest ship which supports and provides transportation services to Isle Royale National Park. There are numerous exciting and entertaining celebrations, happening in Houghton, throughout the year, among the most popular and favorite ones being: Bridgefest, which is a festival that takes place every summer, to commemorate the building of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, Seafoodfest, often held in conjunction with Bridgefest, the Parade of Nations, which takes place every fall, in downtown Houghton, to commemorate the ethnic diversity of Michigan Technological University, and the Strawberry Fest, held every summer, featuring an art market with paintings, photos, sculptures, and crafts, and of course, lots of strawberries.
