Explore the Lincoln Douglas Debate Museum, situated on Coles County Fairgrounds, which offers visitors interactive displays and exhibits that reveal the history of debating through film, artifacts, photos and audio selections.

 

Have a relaxing picnic with the family at the Sister City Park, which can be found on Route 130, south of Lincoln Avenue, featuring picnic tables, volleyball courts, basketball courts and many other fun attractions.

 

Sports & outdoor events

 

The Charleston Challenge Duathlon, which is scheduled on September 25, in 2010, offered by the Charleston Parks & Recreation Department, is perhaps one of the most popular and favorite annual sporting events in Charleston.

 

With a 2-mile run, a 19.1-mile bike ride and a children's race, the event is open for enthusiasts of all ages and skills.

 

The bike ride takes the participants on a hilly course, west of Charleston, while the runs take the participants on a course through Charleston's city streets, revealing some of the most beautiful and scenic areas in and around the city.
