Originally called Mayor Daley Marathon, it has been run every year, since September, 1977, when it registered more than 4000 runners, and has continuously grown since then, being placed among the fastest growing marathon road races in the world.

The 33rd Chicago Marathon will be held on the 10th of October, in 2010, and as in every year, offers a course which takes runners through some of the most beautiful and scenic areas in the city.

 

Did you know: The world record has been only broken 4 times, in the past years, by the following people: Steve Jones was the first one to break the record, in 1984, with 2:08:05, the second being Khalid Khannouchi, who finished the course in 1999, in 2:05:42. In 2001, Catherine Ndereba managed to complete in course in 2:18:47, and one year later, Paula Radcliffe also made it in Chicago's Marathon history, completing the course in 2:17:18.
