- Owens-Thomas House, considered to be one of Savannah's architectural jewels, a beautiful house filled with outstanding American and European objects dating from 1750 to 1890. The House was designed by architect William Jay at the young age of 24 and it was built from 1816 to 1819 for cotton merchant Richard Richardson and his wife Francis Bolton, the sister-in-law of William Jay. Unfortunately the Richardsons soon lost their house in the financial depression of 1820, being purchased in 1890, by George Welchman Owens, congressman, lawyer and one-time mayor of Savannah, remaining in the Owens family until 1951 when Owens' granddaughter Margaret Thomas bequeathed it to the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, now the Telfair Museum of Art.

The Annual Savannah Music Festival, scheduled on March 24, through April 9, in 2011, is considered to be one of the best music festivals in the country and the premier annual music festival in the state.
