Forrest Wood Crowley's Ridge Nature Center. Visitors can explore the hiking trails and the wildlife within a piece of North America. The center provides displays of natural resources, including animals and insects. The facility has over 17 000 square foot and its surroundings contain a 2.5-acre pond, a 5.5-acre prairie and 100 acres of woodlands. The location of the center is 600 E. Lawson Road, Jonesboro.
On Target Family Sports Complex. The miniature golf course contains 18 holes, a waterfall, batting cages and a few other sports facilities. Visitors can find it at 705 Joe Martin Expressway, in Jonesboro. It is considered to be a place where families can enjoy a fun day out with the children.
Fowler Performing Arts Center. The Arkansas State University's newest addition contains a concert hall, a teaching gallery and a drama stage. Visitors can take the tours provided and learn more about the center.
The Forum. It is a beautiful civic auditorium that was restored in the past years. Concerts are held here, as well as plays, business meetings and weddings. It is a part of The Foundation of Arts for Northeast Arkansas, Inc., that is also funding the cultural and entertainment activities in Jonesboro.
Lake Frierson State Park is a popular attraction in Jonesboro that provides a wide range of outdoor activities for visitors. The park contains picnic sites, self-guided trails, tables, grills, a fishing area and a visitor center. A pleasant campground near Jonesboro (7 miles away) is considered to be Craighead Forest Park that offers outdoor amateurs hiking, walking and biking trails. The park has an exclusive area for ATV rides and 15 miles of mountain bike trails through the woods.
The teams representing Arkansas State University are the Red Wolves. On March 7, 2008 the Red Wolves were officially approved by the NCAA. The sports teams from the university are participating in football, basketball and baseball games. The first football team Arkansas was formed in Arkansas in 1911. In 2008 the baseball team was coached by Tommy Raffo, named by the director of athletics Dr. Dean Lee from Arkansas State University.
Delta Boogie Blues Fest is held in Jonesboro on every Sunday of September. Visitors and locals are gathering here to have a good time and enjoy the live music provided by volunteered bands. There is no entering fee, and everybody is welcomed. People, who participated at the festival before, advise the upcoming visitors to bring lawn chairs or blankets, because there are no sittings available. The show is held at Craighead Forest Park and people are allowed to bring refreshments or to have a picnic.
There are a few nightclubs in Jonesboro which require membership. Some of them are offering temporary membership, but usually, it is necessary to be a member or friend of a member to be able to enter one of the nightclubs.
The 501 Club and Restaurant, located at 2628 Phillips Dr, is one of the most visited nightspots in Jonesboro. Another fine club, according to visitors, is Electric Cowboy Club, located at 2801 Fair Park Boulevard.
A good tip for those who want to go dancing in Jonesboro when the night falls is they you should call and make reservations in advance and in order to receive a temporary membership, they have to bring their hotel key along.
