Attractions

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Visitors will find here a zoo, a natural history museum, botanical gardens and an aquarium. The museum also provides live animal exhibits and plant displays, from the Sonoran Dessert. It is a very popular family attraction here, in Tucson and it is located at 2021 N Kinney Road. There are numerous public programs provided, including Sonoran Studies and Running Wild. The Walk-with-a-keeper tour gives the visitors the chance to see the animals closer and learn more about animal care.

Colossal Cave Mountain Park. There are many outdoor attractions gathered at the Colossal Mountain Park. People can take advantage of the cave tours, visit the historical and caving museums, or explore the hiking trails and enjoy the Western trail rides. The adult admission fee for the cave is $8.50, for an hour at the trail rides visitors will pay $27.00 and the park can be accessed by paying only $1 per person ( for groups of over six people).

Air & Space Museum. For $11.75, guests can climb aboard on Air Force One. Visitors can photograph rare aircraft items or learn more about the outer space at the Challenger Learning Center of the Southwest. The Air&Space Museum is the largest and fastest growing aero space museum in the world and it is 25 years old. It can be found at 6000 E Valencia Road.

Sports & outdoor events

The Tucson Rodeo, also known as `Fiesta de los Vaqueros` is an annual sporting event held in Tucson, in early spring. It is a popular event that points the beginning of the rodeo season in USA. The Tucson Rodeo contains seven professional rodeo events, including bareback riding, tie-down roping, bull riding and steer wrestling.

The World Golf Championship is held at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and it is a major sporting event in Southern Arizona. Held in North Tucson, in Marana, this 5- day tournament gathers top golfers from all over the world, in the attempt to prove their skills and place their name within the history pages of this championship.

Festivals

The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is held in Tucson every year, for two weeks, in February. It is considered to be among the largest mineral and gem shows in the world. Several universities and museums have displayed their collections here, including the Smithsonian Institution and Sorbonne.

The Tucson Folk Festival has been held in Tucson, every year, for the past 20 years. It takes place at El Presidio Park, at the first Saturday and Sunday of May. Over 100 local musicians, as well as regional musicians, are highlighted at the festival on 5 stages. It is the largest festival in United States that is free of charge.

The Forth Avenue Street Fair is dating from 1970 and it has been celebrated since then, every March and December, between 9th Street and University Boulevard. The fair contains performances of street artists, art and crafts, as well as food vendors.

Tucson Meet Yourself has been a celebrated event for 30 years, taking place every year, in October. Numerous Tucson ethnic groups are gathering in the downtown area for one week of singing, dancing, art work and good food.
