>> Garin Regional Park, great for spending a relaxing weekend in the outdoors, a place where nature can be seen in all its splendor. Several picnicking areas near the park entrance are available for use by families and larger groups. Hikers can carry picnic lunches in day packs and enjoy lunch along one of the many park trails.

>> Hayward Area Historical Society, which can be found on the east side of San Francisco Bay, perhaps, the perfect attraction in Hayward to visit in order to get acquainted with the local history and culture, the historical society preserving and revealing the diverse history of the Hayward, Castro Valley, and San Lorenzo area, through educational programs and interpretive exhibitions of historic sites and artifacts that show Hayward's history from the beginning until today.

>> Sun Gallery, featuring a permanent art collection that includes sculptures, paintings, ceramics, glass, photography, and jewelry, including more than fifty pieces, and selected works which are always on display at the gallery. Special exhibits and events, such as artist receptions are often held here, as well.

>> Hayward Japanese Gardens, a relaxing oasis in the midst of the bustling East Bay, featuring over three acres of Japanese and California plants and bonsai arranged in traditional Japanese style, meandering paths, a koi pond, and a teahouse.

Annual Events

The Hayward Zucchini Festival, which happens in August, is a fabulous, exciting and entertaining annual event in Hayward, which offers enthusiastic visitors live music, arts and crafts, children's rides, and food, including, of course, zucchini, attendees also being able to sample the green squash in pasta, quiche, bread, sandwiches, ice cream, pizza, sausage, cakes and much, much more.

In 2010, the festival is scheduled on August 21st and 22nd, at Kennedy Park, and, as always, promises quality fun and entertainment for the entire family.
