Chewacla State Park. The 696-acre park contains various hiking and biking trails. Visitors can also find here a 26-acre lake, where they can swim or fish. Tennis courts and playgrounds are also available, as well as many camping areas. The park is offering visitors newly renovated cabins and the assurance that it is the perfect place for rest and relaxation.

 

 

Surfside Water Park. The water park contains two high-speed slides, a 450 000 gallon wave pool and a 5000 square foot play area for children. It is a family friendly attraction in Auburn with affordable admission prices. The general admission fee is $19.99, $17.99 for children, $16.99 for senior citizens and $10.00 for college students, who are advised to bring along their valid student ID, in order to qualify for discounts.

 

 

Auburn United Methodist Church. It is located downtown Auburn, at a distance of one street from Auburn University campus and it is one of the oldest churches in town. Visitors can admire the beautiful architecture of the church or participate in the worship services held between 8 am and 11 am. Sunday mornings are dedicated to bible studies, activity in which people of all ages are invited.

 

 

Sports & outdoor events

 

The Auburn-Opelika Sports Academy is offering sports-related programs for young people and training facilities for athletes and teams, helping them to improve their sports skills. A spring training program is available, before baseball season, providing training seasons regarding hitting, pitching techniques and fielding. All players will participate in the injury prevention program, as well as in the conditioning program, depending on the played position. Sports amateurs and youngsters who are current baseball players will find the facility at 3768 Pepperell Parkway, Midway Plaza, Opelika, AL.

 

 

Festivals

 

The Auburn City Fest is an annual event held in Auburn, Alabama and for the last decade, it has been entertaining visitors with canine acrobatic shows, given by the Bama Air Dogs from Ashville, under the close attention of Gary Shockley, a famous canine trainer. The disc-catching dogs keep the crowds on their feet during their performance and their show is always a pleasant surprise for people. They won the Canine Disc Championship two times and they are the winners of the United States Disc Dog National Championship.

On the last week-end in April, Auburn City Fest brings fun and excitement to Kiesel Park, including music, arts and children activities.

 

 

Nightlife

 

Visitors do not consider the nightlife in Auburn as being a captivating one, but the aspect doesn't seem to stop the students going out. Tigris, located at 129 N College Street, is one of the few clubs in Auburn were youngsters come to dance and participate in the all-night parties held here. In the downtown area, there are mainly similar bars, according to previous visitors, and a small part of them are serving students under 21. However, there are numerous places were music lovers can listen to bands, such as Buffalo's American Grill (149 E. Magnolia Avenue), Bodega (101 N. College Street) and Big Blue Bagel (120 N College Street).
